This pedestrian and revolving bridge is the first work of the Valencian architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava to be built in Latin America. It is 160 meters long and six meters wide. Its metal mast rises 39 meters. The bridge, with an approximate weight of 800 tons, is ready to move every time a boat needs to pass.
Its turning mechanism is one of the largest in the world, with 20 electric motors on the main shaft, which are controlled by computer.
The work was donated to the city by businessman Alberto L. González. The undertaking cost 6 million dollars and was carried out in Spain. He was transferred to Buenos Aires in parts in several shipments.

The plastic profile of the work is interpreted by the author as the figure of a couple dancing tango, where the white pole represents the man and the curved silhouette of the bridge the woman.
